Harry E. "Bud" Massing, Jr., father to owner Dave Massing started working with Dave at a young age. One of Dave's first memories is standing on the second floor of the addition Bud was adding to their two-story home in Erie, PA. Dave would often spend time with his own hammer and nail bucket in the driveway nailing scraps of wood together while Bud worked on the house, taking his first steps to become a woodworker.
Dave's passion for being a woodworker started in a small basement workshop in Baltimore, MD where he and Diana (his wife) were living in a small bungalow house and poised to start a family. When they couldn't find a TV stand to fit their master bedroom upstairs, Dave went to work making his first creation!
After moving to San Antonio, TX, Dave continued to build new items for their new house and family! This is where he continued to practice his art and learn many new techniques as a woodworker.....and it showed. From a toy box for their son Harry, to outdoor signs and towel holders, to ring holders and bottle openers!
After nearly a year of lockdown due to COVID-19, Dave made the decision to turn his hobby and passion into a small business. Friends and family have always commented on how they loved what he made and would like something similar, so he decided to share his passion with them and created Made by Massing
Dave and Diana were married in 2005. Diana and Dave loved their new family which included Emily, Dave's first daughter. They then welcomed Harry to the family in Baltimore and finished off the family when Audrey arrived in SanAntonio. All of the kids have followed in Dave's footprints, helping him with projects and building with scraps to make their own creations
Dave has always enjoyed building and manipulating with his hands. As a fellowship trained physical therapist in manual therapy, Dave has had a 22 year career helping patients. As a veteran and Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves, Dave has also spent twenty-one years serving his country, with Diana serving by his side as an Army wife and taking care of the family while he's away.
These views are solely those of David Massing and in no way represent the United States or U.S. Army.
